OBHS' Emerging Business Leaders
Four Oyster Bay High School students took away top honors at the Huntington Chamber of Commerce 18th Annual Emerging Business Leaders Competition, which was held virtually this year due to the health crisis. Seniors Faith Cammarata and Michael Maznio won second place in the Retail Marketing category and juniors Rachel Singer and Patrick Walsh took third place in the Public Relations category. Eighteen Oyster Bay High School business students competed against those from school districts across Long Island school, including Syosset, Jericho, and Hicksville.
The competition, traditionally held at St. Joseph’s College, challenges high school students to think beyond the scope of the classroom and demonstrate their knowledge and capabilities in a business environment. Students use their understanding of business to address given tasks and current issues in their category of choice and can participate as a team of two or individually in the competition.

Two Earn Nassau Zone PE Awards
Oyster Bay High School seniors Miriam Coor and Bianca McEvoy were named recipients of the 2020-21 Physical Education Outstanding Student Award presented by the Nassau Zone of New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYS AHPERD). The award recognizes two students from each Nassau County school district who demonstrate excellence in physical education and health, and emulate the values and attitudes these disciplines teach in meaningful and impactful ways.
“Bianca and Miriam were chosen by members of the high school health and physical education faculty because of the way they approach physical education as an academic discipline where they are given opportunities to play and move while learning life-long lessons,” said Mr. Kevin Trentowski, the District’s Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics. “Their healthy lifestyles in and out of school, responsible personal and social behavior, leadership skills, and positive influence on their peers were all contributing factors.”
